Answers about booking, pricing, credits and who the workshops are for.
Who are the workshops for?
Teachers of weather and climate from kindergarten through middle school, along with the curriculum coordinators and administrators who support them. Each workshop lists the grade levels and standards it addresses. Conservation districts, nature centers and other educators are welcome too.
How much does a workshop cost?
The price range per workshop is $250 to $350, depending on the number of participants. Dr. Lilienfeld will confirm a price once she knows your group size. Ask about pricing for a series of workshops.
How long is a workshop, and where is it held?
Most workshops are two hours. The air masses workshop is three hours with a 15-minute break. Workshops are held at a location you choose in your school district.
Do participants receive continuing education credit?
Yes. CEUs are awarded in Minnesota and SCECHs in Michigan, matching the length of the workshop. For example, a two-hour workshop earns 2 CEUs or SCECHs.
What do teachers take home?
In every workshop participants are given hands-on activities they may use in their classes: packets of activity sheets used during the workshop and ready for their own classrooms. The same packets are available separately as classroom materials.
Do I need a background in atmospheric science?
No. One of the major goals of Circle of Illumination Science Education is to unpack the complexity of weather and climate while emphasizing the big ideas in a way that all teachers, regardless of prior knowledge, will be able to comprehend.
Which standards do the workshops address?
Each workshop page lists its standards. They include NGSS 3-ESS2-1, MS-ESS2-5 and MS-ESS2-6, along with Minnesota and Michigan weather and climate standards from kindergarten through middle school.
Where do you travel?
Circle of Illumination Science Education is based in the Twin Cities and works with districts across Minnesota and Michigan. If you are elsewhere, ask. Webinars are available anywhere.
When are the Fall 2026 webinars?
Dates, times and registration details will be announced by early September 2026. Join the interest list to hear first.
Can you present at our conference or staff development day?
Yes. Dr. Lilienfeld presents annually at state science teacher association conferences in Minnesota and Michigan and has delivered webinars for the Michigan Science Teachers’ Association. Send an inquiry with your dates.
